Delete your account
You can delete your AI & Sync account at any time, from inside the app or by writing to us. This page exists so the route is available without installing anything — Google Play requires it, and it is the right thing to publish anyway.
In the app
Profile → Settings → Delete account.
On the website
Sign in and go to aiandsync.com/delete-account (/[locale]/delete-account). The route works without the app installed, which is what makes this page's promise true for someone who has already uninstalled it.
By email
If you cannot reach the app — you have already uninstalled it, or you cannot sign in — email support@aiandsync.com from the address on the account, with the subject "Delete my account".
We will confirm within 30 days, and in practice much sooner. We may ask one question to confirm you own the account; we will not ask you to stay.
If you host events
If you have events that have not yet happened, the button will not close your account on the spot, and this is deliberate. Those events are sold and dated, and people are coming to them. Write to us instead and a person will sort out the events and the account together.
What happens, and when
Deleting your account happens in two stages.
Immediately
- Your profile stops being visible to anyone. It disappears from every deck, every search and every event.
- You cannot sign back in. The account is closed, not hidden — signing in is blocked, not merely ended.
- You are signed out on every device. Existing sessions are revoked, not just cleared on the phone in your hand.
- You are removed from any event you are currently in. You will not linger in the room as a card nobody can interact with.
After 30 days
- Your profile is erased: nickname, date of birth, gender, bio, and everything under "Looking for".
- Your photo files are deleted from storage, not merely hidden. The one exception is a photograph a moderator has made a decision about, which is kept with that decision for as long as the decision stands, and deleted with it.
- Your event selfies are deleted.
- Your email address and phone number are erased, and your sign-in identity is deleted.
- You are removed from our mailing lists.
We use a 30-day window rather than erasing instantly so that an account deleted by mistake, or by someone who got hold of your phone, can be recovered by contacting us inside that period. After it passes, erasure is permanent and we cannot undo it.
What is kept, and why
Some records are not only about you, and erasing them would delete someone else's history or break an obligation we have.
| Kept | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| The fact that you matched with someone, and when | It is part of that event's history and the record of a night that happened | Retained |
| The frozen profile snapshot taken when you joined an event | It is the other guest's record of who they met — what they actually saw on the night | Retained, less your photographs, which are removed from it |
| Reports filed about you, or by you | Safety and abuse investigations, and evidencing our moderation decisions | Retained |
| Blocks | So a block you placed keeps working, and so does one placed against you | Retained |
| Transaction and ticket records | Legal and accounting obligations | As required by law |
| The name you hosted under, on events you ran | So guests looking back at a night they attended can still see who put it on | Retained |
Your matches stop being visible to the other person. The record is kept as part of the event's history, but once you delete your account the person you matched with no longer sees that match anywhere in the app.
Retained records are not visible to other users as a profile, and your erased account cannot be re-opened from them.
Signing up again
After the 30 days have passed, you can create a new account with the same email address. It starts empty — the old profile is not restored.
During those 30 days the address is still attached to the closed account and cannot be used to register again. If you want back in during that window, write to us rather than starting over.
An account closed by us for breaking the Community Guidelines may not be re-opened.
Your other rights
Deletion is one of several rights you have over your data. You can also ask for a copy of what we hold, correct it, or object to how we use it. See the Privacy Policy.
